Avery started school August 19, which was the first day of the Sheldon Picnic (another post to follow on that) and I'm an officer for that event, which meant I would be in Sheldon late Wednesday night and then Thursday and Friday would be pretty crazy for everyone in our house. We had preschool open house on Wednesday and I don't think Justin had ever witnessed Avery's social anxiety that she inherited from her father, but he saw it. For those of you that don't know Avery very well would never suspect that she has this problem, but goodness she stresses and throws a fit if she has to be around kids and people she doesn't know and that stresses me out. She has been in daycare since she was 10 months, but she's just like her daddy and would rather keep to himself and be around strangers. Well she freaked out when Miss Sara (Avery's teacher) took all the kids to their room to play while the parents received all the info. After parent orientation we left and guess who didn't want to leave? Yep, Avery wanted to stay and was so excited to go to school the next day.
After the preschool open house I headed to Sheldon and didn't get home until 9 and I had forgotten to lay out Avery's clothes, so at 9pm Avery and I and
I couldn't sleep Wednesday night. I was worried about Lawson and his breathing. I was worried about my baby girl growing up and going to preschool. I worried about leaving Avery. I worried about Avery getting along with the other kids and I worried about the other kids getting along with Avery...I JUST WORRIED!
Thursday morning went pretty smooth Avery got up and around with no tears...mornings are not a good time in our house. We had time for a few pictures with our little school girl.
So we made it to school with no tears, but Avery did want to to draw a hear and a smiley face on her palm and I did- I thought that was so sweet. We had to stop for some pictures outside the building. I had some neat ideas, but of course Avery didn't cooperate, so I got the best I could. I was fighting back the tears with all I had, but Avery never noticed.
This is right out side the the door...I wanted to get her picture by the sign, but she wouldn't do it..Lil stinker!
Getting ready to walk in...I wanted one of her waling down the hallway, but she wouldn't let go of my hand..tear...
Avery and her teacher, Miss Sara. It does my heart good knowing that she has an excellent teacher. Sara and I are in the same sorority and we live pretty close, so it was good that Avery knows her too.
At this point I was crying, so I just waved bye to Sara and got the heck out of there...It was hard to see Avery take off her little pink backpack... I have no idea why that bothered me, but it did.
I don't want to even think about what kind of a mess I'll be when she graduates....I guess I have 14 years to prepare myself. And, Lawson is doing much better...thank goodness!
