It's a no-brainier what the kids were...Dorthy and the (cowardly) Lion. It's kind of a long story how their costumes happened...it all started last September- the September I was pregnant with Lawson. I'm in a sorority and we had a "Wigs n Wine" night and I needed a wig. I hurriedly went to WM to get a wig- I just grabbed a wig- I knew it was Dorthy and that was OK....until I got home and tried it on. It was a CHILD size wig! So from last September I had a plan that Avery would be Dorthy and the Baby (remember we didn't find out the sex) would be a Lion. My idea worked out great, especially since Lawson, was a boy. I think the both looked adorable!! We did take the kids TOT, but only to family....we don't beg for candy! What candy Avery did get only stays in the house for 48hrs then it goes in the trash. I know I'm probably a mean mom, but Avery is a garbage gut and would eat candy 24/7 if she could. So, I save her the trouble of getting in trouble and pitching it. Since Halloween was on a Sunday we started early, so we could finish early.

Halloween Eve
Saturday night Wes and Amber had an Adult Halloween party. I'm not a fan of Halloween AT ALL- I never have been and never will be- and one of my biggest pet peeves is when people call it a HOLIDAY- IT IS NOT A HOLIDAY!!! Seriously that drives me crazy to hear people say "Halloween is my favorite holiday!" it's no a freakin' holiday people! Any way, enough about that.
When Amber told me they were having a party- I thought that will be fun, but I also thought I hate Halloween and I hate coming up with costumes. I started searching for ideas and finally settled on a Danny & Sandy 50/60's idea and I didn't have to buy a thing for our costumes- even better! I had mom fix my hair and I borrowed my cousin, Erin's Pink Ladies jacket (Erin, was Frenchie last year) and I think we looked pretty good! We did have fun, even with my dislike for Halloween- it was good to be among adults and kid free for the evening. Thank you Grandma Robyn for watching Avery and Lawson for us.

Pumkin Patch Fun!
I have wanted to take Avery to a pumpkin since she was a baby, but had never been able to do it. Finally this year we made it to the Wood's Pumpkin patch in Pittsburg, KS. It was fun, but we will be going earlier in the season than Halloween weekend...all the pumpkins were gone! But, what do you expect when you go so late in the season. The kids had already gotten pumpkins, so it wasn't a huge disappointment , but it didn't seem like a true pumpkin patch. Avery did have a lot of fun- that's all that matters!
I love this picture of Avery!! She is so happy and carefree...to be a child again!
Avery was being uncooperative as usual when I try taking her picture- :)
Thanks for going with us, Grandma Robyn- hope you had as much fun as we did!!
Catch-Up
I have been so busy at work that I haven't been able to keep up with this. I have so much swimming in my head that I get dizzy just thinking about what I have missed putting on here. Lets see I need to post about... Halloween, Lawson walking, Thanksgiving, Avery and some other things that I want to make sure I don't forget abou...t and lots of pictures.
One of my New Years reslolutions is to start taking one picture everyday and write someting very brief about what has been going on in our world. Hard to believe that 2010 is almost gone- time just goes too fast!

Never a dull moment!
There definitely never a dull momentat our house. It is a bit chaotic and nerve raveling at times, but I know one day I will miss ALL the craziness. It's gotten even worse in the last couple of months, because Lawson is mobile and I'm sure it will be even worse when he starts walking, which won't be long. Avery is ALWAYS doing something to her little brother. I do sometimes laugh at what she was done, or plans to do, but honestly I just feel sorry for Lawson. Of course, I never let her do anything that will hurt him, but there are times when I hear him cry and have no idea what she has done to him, but he has a certain cry when Avery is involved. Well, last night Avery wanted to push Lawson in one of her doll strollers...I was hesitant, but thought it wouldn't be too terrible. The pictures look like Lawson is terrified, but he really did like it. He was laughing and kicking his feet the entire time, until.....Avery pushed him into the china hutch. He wasn't hurt, but that was the end of pushing Lawson in a doll stroller.
Hair bows in his hair...this happened the other night. Avery was actually getting to push the barrette into his soft spot- good thing I caught her just in time. I never know what will happen next around our house.

Avery is a NOVICE Gymnast!
I wish I had some pictures to post, but parent's are not allowed to watch, unless it's the first day of the pay period (the first Wednesday of the month), but I was able to see Avery while sitting in my car thru the front window. I could tell they were testing her, but on what I wasn't sure, until I went in to get her. She can do the below with no help and by seeing no example- I am very impressed!
Avery has changed so much this year and I'm so proud of her. Preschool has help her social anxiety so much and seeing her excel in gymnastics makes me very proud. She also attended a birthday party last weekend and didn't cling to my leg-and that was a big deal. It's so nice for me as a parent to see my child have fun with other kids and to also know that my child is having fun. This is something I worried about for her, because of her social problem, but hopefully that is a thing of the past! Mommy loves you and is so proud of you, Avery Lynn!!
- tuck jump
- tuck forward roll
- straddle jump
- pike roll to-
- pike stretch
- bridge-lay flat roll to stomach jump to squat
- scale (hold for 2 sec)
- jump 1/2 turn
- chasse,chasse
- lever to lunge, finish

I give up...trying to get a good picture that is!
I finally took the kids to get pumpkins last night. I had high expectations that I would leave there with some great pictures. I think I had pretty high expectations, because I'm not sure that I even got ONE good picture. Lawson was too busy looking at ALL the pumpkins and letting the owners dog lick his face and Avery, well she was just being Avery! At first she hid from the camera, because she was mad I was taking pictures, then she wouldn't stop picking Lawson up...she would suddenly grab him or make a weird noise just as I was about to snap a picture...so, that is why I give up on trying to get GOOD pictures!
Lawson was 9 months old yesterday...I can't believe it!
