Preschool...Hannah Montana, say what!?

Well the day has finally come for Avery to go to preschool, and oh what a bittersweet moment it was/is. I just can't believe that she will be going to kindergarten next year. I guess sending her to preschool will help get mommy and daddy prepared too for next year- I honestly didn't expect last Thursday (the first day of school) to be so hard on me, but my goodness I wasn't prepared.
Avery started school August 19, which was the first day of the Sheldon Picnic (another post to follow on that) and I'm an officer for that event, which meant I would be in Sheldon late Wednesday night and then Thursday and Friday would be pretty crazy for everyone in our house. We had preschool open house on Wednesday and I don't  think Justin had ever witnessed Avery's social anxiety that she inherited from her father, but he saw it. For those of you that don't know Avery very well would never suspect that she has this problem, but goodness she stresses and throws a fit if she has to be around kids and people she doesn't know and that stresses me out. She has been in daycare since she was 10 months, but she's just like her daddy and would rather keep to himself and be around strangers. Well she freaked out when Miss Sara (Avery's teacher) took all the kids to their room to play while the parents received all the info. After parent orientation we left and guess who didn't want to leave? Yep, Avery wanted to stay and was so excited to go to school the next day.
After the preschool open house I headed to Sheldon and didn't get home until 9 and I had forgotten to lay out Avery's clothes, so at 9pm Avery and I  and arguing discussing what she should wear on her first day of school, and of course I gave in and let her pick out her entire outfit and she did look pretty cute. In the process of all this Lawson had a coughing fit and stopped breathing...talk about SCARY!!! Lawson when to the Dr on Monday and found out he had bronchitis. So a sick baby added on top of a crazy week not what anyone wants to deal with, but we dealt with it.
I couldn't sleep Wednesday night. I was worried about Lawson and his breathing. I was worried about my baby girl growing up and going to preschool. I worried about leaving Avery. I worried about Avery getting along with the other kids and I worried about the other kids getting along with Avery...I JUST WORRIED!
Thursday morning went pretty smooth Avery got up and around with no tears...mornings are not a good time in our house. We had time for a few pictures with our little school girl.

So we made it to school with no tears, but Avery did want to to draw a hear and a smiley face on her palm and I did- I thought that was so sweet. We had to stop for some pictures outside the building. I had some neat ideas, but of course Avery didn't cooperate, so I got the best I could. I was fighting back the tears with all I had, but Avery never noticed.

This is right out side the the door...I wanted to get her picture by the sign, but she wouldn't do it..Lil stinker!

Getting ready to walk in...I wanted one of her waling down the hallway, but she wouldn't let go of my hand..tear...

Avery and her teacher, Miss Sara. It does my heart good knowing that she has an excellent teacher. Sara and I are in the same sorority and we live pretty close, so it was good that Avery knows her too.

At this point I was crying, so I just waved bye to Sara and got the heck out of there...It was hard to see Avery take off her little pink backpack... I have no idea why that bothered me, but it did.

I don't want to even think about what kind of a mess I'll be when she graduates....I guess I have 14 years to prepare myself. And, Lawson is doing much better...thank goodness!

Flower girl Avery

Avery was the flower girl in my good friend Kerry's wedding, which was Saturday, March 27. I worried
Avery would not cooperate the day Kerry asked if Avery could be the flower girl...Avery is a very shy little girl and is also very head strong and stubborn- she got mine and Justin's bad qualities, so I was worried Avery wouldn't do what she was supposed to do.
The week of the wedding was my first week back to work after having Lawson, so needless to say it was a CRAZY week. We had rehearsal Friday night and I took both kids by myself- which was a mistake, but we made it through. Avery did not want to walk down the isle with the ring bearer, but we made it through with A LOT of bribing...I know I'm terrible to do that, but sometimes you just have to do it. I had talked up the flower girl job and let Avery watch mine and Justin's wedding video and look at our wedding pictures, but that didn't work- so Avery was going to be Avery.
Saturday morning I took Avery to get her hair done and she did so good- she kept saying she looked like a princess...and she did. The temperature was pretty good that day, but my was it windy- so Avery wore a shower cap to protect her hair from the wind....and later the rain. Yes, it turned out to be a rainy mess.  I felt so bad for Kerry- isn't that every brides fear- to have it rain on their wedding day? But Kerry was a beautiful bride and Avery surprised shocked me, she cooperated!! Well, kind of I had to walk down the isle with her and throw petals down to get her to do it- she even reprimanded me in the middle of the isle, because I didn't do it right. I know we have our hands full, but I was so proud of Avery- she did a good job and looked so sweet as a flower girl.  Thank you, Kerry for letting Avery be part of your special day.

being shy...

Bronson walking his mommy down the isle- Kerry was such a beautiful bride.

I'm slowly catching up!
